Year 2008... before renovation

Let me introduce myself...my name is
Leanne and beside running The Oakley I'm a proffessional painter. I live here with my husband and 3 children. Our aim has been to provide a unique family home that is cosy, comfortable and practical with the sweet covering of luxury.
This little journal will hopefully give readers
an idea of what inspired us to share our home with you...
The first time we saw
'The Oakley' it was a derelict barn... but we fell in love!
Nestled perfectly within a beautiful Devon valley, in a rural location but close enough to all amenities... we had found our dream home.
We started renovating c.2008 and although it was an exciting process, the undertaking was hard work.
The roof needed to be completely replaced and as we love oak framed buildings... we opted for this in the structure. This became the basis of the name choice - The Oakley
We worked relentlessly through the year
2008 / 2009 converting the barn intill we could finally call it home... Final completion inc landscaping was in Spring 2010
... And we came to realise that one thing that's more worthwhile than having a house that you love...
Is when others can enjoy it too!
... And hopefully this is where you come in!
Our aim is to create an unforgetable holiday for you, your friends, or your family. Regardless of what time of year you stay, we want to do our utmost to make your holiday special. Your opinion matters... And if it's possible we will try and accommodate.
But meanwhile, here are several ideas we are already putting into your holiday that are included in the price...
Egyptian cotton Bedlinen & Towels are provided - depending on the number in your party. The house is cleaned and prepared prior to your arrival. A welcome pack is also included....a few immediate essentials i.e. milk, teas, coffees, sugars, juice, hot chocolate, butter, bread, jam. A bottle a sparkling wine will also be waiting your arrival- chilling in the fridge - and even a few extra surprises!
In all bathrooms hand soap is also provided + toilet rolls.
Whatever the weather a fire will be prepared and a supply of logs. Also provided - dishwasher tablets, cloths, matches...
Extras....
On booking your holiday, you'll be asked if you would care to take advantage of any 'Extras' (these incur an added charge)

Bonoffee Cake £20
Rum Truffle Cake £20
Selection of freshly made sandwhiches £4 per head
Selection of Cheese & Biscuits £20
(All available on arrival)
During your holiday...
The property is cleaned throughout and prepared prior to your arrival,
Morning paper delivered... £5 - £9 per week
Extra Log supply... £5 per load (very unlikely you'll need extra as we provide v.large load within price)
Extra facilities for babies & toddlers... upon request.
Games console choice.... £20 per stay
Any additional features will be updated on the website-journal as and when...
